GPS Guided Bike Tours

GPS-guided bike routes, enjoy nature while doing sports, with different levels of difficulty.

1st STAGE: CIRCULAR THROUGH THE SURROUNDINGS OF BOAL

Departure and arrival at the rural tourism accommodation El Bosque de las Viñas.

Description of the route: The itinerary runs through the Pico de Penácaros, Alto de Penouta and Alto de San Isidro. From these three heights you can see the mountains of the Council of Boal and neighboring councils. You can also see the coast, both the Mariña Lucense and the Asturian western coast.

The stage runs in its lower sections through forests and streams.

You can visit the Castro de Pendia and cross an old slate mine (La Llouseira).

2nd STAGE: AS VIÑAS-BRAÑABAZAL-BARAYO

It begins in the rural apartments El Bosque de las Viñas. The first stop is at the Castro de Pendia viewpoint. From here the route runs along a wide track between areas of pine and with views of the reservoir and the mountains of Villayón. It passes through the beautiful town of Cabanas Trabazas and from here it crosses pasture areas to enter the Council of Coaña.

At the highest point of the route you can see the coast and the final point of the route, the Barayo Nature Reserve.

From here the descent is along a path that runs parallel to the Meiro River until reaching Navia.

The rest of the route runs parallel to the coast, through different coves and cliff areas, until reaching Barayo.

3rd STAGE: GRANDAS OF SALIME-AS VIÑAS

This stage runs through mountain ranges and narrow valleys.

Route that leaves the town of Grandas de Salime and ends in As Viñas.

It is recommended on this tour to pay a visit to the Grandas ethnographic museum before leaving.

It runs through typical Western Asturian villages such as Pesoz, Argul declared of cultural interest, Doiras and the beautiful village of Froseira from where we can observe typical constructions of this area of Asturias.

You can visit the Castro de San Isidro enjoying the beautiful scenery throughout the route as it is in a privileged area.

In the stage, you will reach the Pico del Cuco from where you can see impressive views. You pass through the Cova del Demo (cave with cave paintings) and from here you will go down the valley to the town of Froseira, a unique town due to its privileged location crossed by the Urubio River.

From Froseira we headed to «The Bosque de las Viñas» through different villages of the Council of Boal.

4th STAGE: LAS VIÑAS-SANTALLA DE OSCOS

Route that leaves Las Viñas. It passes through the Hermitage of San Isidro, where the traditional pilgrimage is held every year in honor of this saint. We will pass by the top of Penouta from where you can see the capital of the Council, Boal and some of the surrounding towns.

Also from here you can see the Asturian coast and the Mariña Lucense.

We will take the road that crosses the Sierra de la Bobia enjoying beautiful pasture areas. In this area we will be able to see the herds of brown-coated Asturcon horses, characteristic of this area of ​​Asturias, and which are found in freedom.

We will cross the Grallas wind farm to head along tracks, paths, meadows and some wooded area to reach San Martín de Oscos. We head from here to the Carmina mine, an old silver, zinc and lead mine.

Crossing the Agüeira river passing through a beautiful recreational area and we will go up to the town of Ferreira declared of cultural interest.

From here we will go to the town of Santalla de Oscos, being able to make a stop in Ferreirola de Baxo where we can visit the birthplace of the Marquis of Sargadelos. We finish in Santa Eulalia, a beautiful town in the Oscos Biosphere Reserve.
